Sketchbook Assignments 10/21 – 11/25

Due October 28 "Odd Couples" — Draw a minimum of 3 odd couples: 1 animal couple, 1 plant couple, and 1 inanimate couple (inanimate meaning not alive: like a toaster or a rock). Exaggerate physical differences through proportion and shape. Due November 4 "Present, Past, Future" — Create a human character and imagine how he/she will look over a span of 50–60 years. For Monday, Oct 28 — Homework / Sketchbook / in-class materials to bring

Homework: Since there was some confusion about last week's MTA poster assignment, you'll have until Monday, October 28, to complete it. Refer to Diana's previous blog post, "Homework #5," for all assignment details. If you feel you are already finished then you're done. If the sketch you brought to class on Monday, Oct 21, did not include ALL OF THE ELEMENTS Diana assigned then now is your chance to fix that. If your sketch included all of the elements but you would like to improve your sketch before it's graded, then this is an opportunity to do that. I'll be sending images of all of your sketches to Diana. We will take photos of what is on the wall during class, and if you prefer to send her a digital file there will be time for you to email those to me during class. ----- Sketchbook assignment: "Odd Couples" — Draw a minimum of 3 odd couples: 1 animal couple, 1 plant couple, 1 inanimate couple ("inanimate" meaning not...

Homework Assignment #5

Homework Assignment #5 Subway poster Due 10/21 Here’s a refresh of what your homework is. Below is the premise.  An art director from the MTA has just emailed you. The client has said they love your work and would like you to submit a pitch for a MTA subway poster (The horizontal art cards you see above the subway windows). Your task is to create a fully realized sketch of your idea for the client as a pitch.  Include some color ideas with color swatches or add some loose color to an area of the sketch. You can try scanning in an area and adding some digital color. Or trace a section of your sketch and try a color test with traditional materials.  The sketch can be full size or slightly smaller. See the dimensions below. I recommend drawing the sketch at 75% or larger.
