Here’s a refresh of what your homework is. Below is the premise. 
An art director from the MTA has just emailed you. The client has said they love your work and would like you to submit a pitch for a MTA subway poster (The horizontal art cards you see above the subway windows). Your task is to create a fully realized sketch of your idea for the client as a pitch. 


Include some color ideas with color swatches or add some loose color to an area of the sketch. You can try scanning in an area and adding some digital color. Or trace a section of your sketch and try a color test with traditional materials. 
The sketch can be full size or slightly smaller. See the dimensions below. I recommend drawing the sketch at 75% or larger.

Choose a scene from your favorite children's book (or just a children's book you really like) and create a new illustration. It can be any scene you choose from the book. It should reflect your own interpretation of the scene, a completely new illustration based on the author's text for that page. You should redesign the characters, the environment, everything. Homework Assignment #3

Assignment #3 Book Cover Design/ Due Monday 10/7 Create an illustration for a Penguin Classics book cover. Art due October 7th ( No class on September 30th because of the jewish holiday) Go to the library or bookstore. Pick a book that you have or haven’t read that is a Penguin Classic. Ideally you would read it or already read it. Do some research, skim, understand the overall plot, etc. Maybe pick a passage that is important, etc. Brainstorm ideas for a new concept and composition that embraces a visual image that conveys the story or aspect of the story. Draw some thumbnails. The artwork should be completed in a traditional manner. Pencil, ink, paint, pastel, watercolor, stencil, etc. The art area is fairly small. I suggest working larger than 100%. Sketchbook Assignments 10/21 – 11/25

Due October 28 "Odd Couples" — Draw a minimum of 3 odd couples: 1 animal couple, 1 plant couple, and 1 inanimate couple (inanimate meaning not alive: like a toaster or a rock).
