MTA poster deadline change

Apparently Queens College is taking delivery of laptops and tablet(?) for students who do not have access to such devices at home or elsewhere. Please let your students know that if this situation applies to them, they should email (CTLOnline@qc.cuny.edu) to enquire about availability. Please all look here for student resources that will help with internet access.

 Since there was a recent change to the school calendar  and spring break I am changing the MTA poster deadline. If you would like feedback for your revised sketch with color please send by April 2. Otherwise the full color final poster will be due on April 6. After that you will have a new project to work on.

 Please color jpegs under 10mb via email. some of you are sending huge files. Please send large files with a downloadable link. Also name your files. For example send a file named poster_sketch_name.jpeg  or poster_final_name.jpeg

 I should have gotten back to everyone now about their sketches. If I haven't please resend the email. There has been such a slurry or correspondence from the school I want to make sure no one was missed. Also, if you want to schedule a phone discussion about your work we can set that up.

Choose a scene from your favorite children's book (or just a children's book you really like) and create a new illustration. It can be any scene you choose from the book. It should reflect your own interpretation of the scene, a completely new illustration based on the author's text for that page. You should redesign the characters, the environment, everything. Homework Assignment #3

Assignment #3 Book Cover Design/ Due Monday 10/7 Create an illustration for a Penguin Classics book cover. Art due October 7th ( No class on September 30th because of the jewish holiday) Go to the library or bookstore. Pick a book that you have or haven’t read that is a Penguin Classic. Ideally you would read it or already read it. Do some research, skim, understand the overall plot, etc. Maybe pick a passage that is important, etc. Brainstorm ideas for a new concept and composition that embraces a visual image that conveys the story or aspect of the story. Draw some thumbnails. The artwork should be completed in a traditional manner. Pencil, ink, paint, pastel, watercolor, stencil, etc. The art area is fairly small. I suggest working larger than 100%. Sketchbook Assignments 10/21 – 11/25

Due October 28 "Odd Couples" — Draw a minimum of 3 odd couples: 1 animal couple, 1 plant couple, and 1 inanimate couple (inanimate meaning not alive: like a toaster or a rock). Exaggerate physical differences through proportion and shape. Due November 4 "Present, Past, Future" — Create a human character and imagine how he/she will look over a span of 50–60 years.
